Train Station Introductions

Utsuikawa

This station is dynamic!

This station was named for a tributary of the Shimanto River, the “narrow river valley, narrow ravine” Utsui River that is located alongside. As a result of not being able to find the most suitable placement for the establishment, there is a long staircase to the single track platform built on an embankment. This—along with the waiting area that was installed by sheer will-power—can be seen as traces of hardship. Much like the neighboring Iejigawa, this station became unmanned after the opening in March 1974 (Showa 49).
